How can we help students make connections to their own lives? The Personal Project is a capstone project that students complete in their last year of MYP. It is designed to allow them to apply all they have learned over the past 5 years (Global Contexts, Approaches to Learning skills, and subject-specific knowledge) in a new and personal context. Students spend approximately 25 hours working on establishing a goal, criteria for measuring their success, an action plan, creating their outcome or product, and reflecting on the process.
Students working on the Personal Project need support as they use their knowledge and skills independently. While teachers are assigned to students as their Project Supervisors, all staff can support students by being a sounding board for their ideas and encouraging or helping them when they face an obstacle.
Below are resources for you to use as you support students during the project. Please feel free to contact your MYP coordinator or Projects coordinator with any questions or support needs you have. |
